Panasonic will launch the 8GB Pro High Speed SD Memory Card. The Panasonic 8GB SD Memory Card, designated RP-SDV08GE1K, featuring both high capacity and high speed, will be globally released in September, 2007 with an estimated retail price of EUR129.00. Having added this model, Panasonic now offers four Pro High Speed models, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB card sizes with the Class 6 Speed specification. The company is also planning to introduce a 16GB model within this year to further strengthen the lineup. For 2008 we may even see the 16GB doubled into an impressive 32GB capacity.

Today, there is a growing demand for recording High Definition video and high resolution images with the expansion of HD camcorders and high-resolution digital still cameras, and card-based recording media is expected to have larger capacity and higher data transfer speeds. The Panasonic 8GB SD card meets such demand with its SDHC specification which is compatible with the SD Memory Card Ver.2.0 standard as well as Class 6 Speed specification which guarantees minimum data transfer speed of 6MB/s.

Panasonic Pro High Speed 8GB SDHC
Thanks to 8GB massive data storage capacity, the Panasonic RP-SDV08GE1K is able to record a High Definition movie of approximately 2 hours in AVCHD normal mode, and to store about 3080 high resolution still images (10Megapixels, 3648x2736, Fine mode). The data transfer speed of up to 20MB/s which is fast enough for professional and broadcast-use digital devices, provides superb performance and high quality recording. Even when using the Panasonic 8GB Pro High Speed SD card with a professional digital SLR camera, consumers can enjoy full performance of consecutive shooting without worrying about overflow of buffer memory. When used with Panasonic’s new High Definition SD video camera, HDC-SD5, the card can stably record detailed High Definition video in real-time.
