Electric car pioneer ZAP says its iZAP battery designed for the Apple iPod is more useful for the energy intensive Apple iPhone. "The iZAP battery was a life-saver during my business trip to China last week," said Apple iPhone owner Steve Schneider, Chief Executive Officer for ZAP. "Frankly, if an Apple iPod runs out of power, losing your music and photo or video is not as critical to your business trip as the Apple iPhone. You lose your cell phone access, text messages, Internet and email access, time zone clock, business notes, scheduling software, driving maps, calculator and all the other news and information for which the Apple iPhone was designed."

Schneider believes the popularity of the Apple iPhone will help sales for iZAP. Yesterday, Macworld reported that Apple sold 270,000 iPhones in the first 30 hours of its availability. After testing it for the last three weeks, Schneider estimates that ZAP's portable, rechargeable power system can triple the charge of the iPhone. He also says that it can recharge his iPhone faster than the standard charger.

Schneider added: "The iZAP and Apple iPhone are compatible right out of the box, almost like they were made for one another. You don't need to buy additional connectors or cords and with the iZAP cradle you can recharge your Apple iPhone right on your belt." iZAP is the by-product of several years research by ZAP into more advanced batteries for its electric vehicles. Yesterday, ZAP reported that is XEBRA electric truck traveled over 100 miles on a single charge at a Danish testing facility using similar battery technology.

Portable energy technology for Apple iPhone
ZAP's portable energy technology helps solve the growing battery dilemma for mobile electronics, offering a rechargeable source of power out in the field or extending the battery life of your favorite electronic device. The technology also reduces the need for disposable batteries, which can be bulky, expensive and harmful to the environment. The lithium-ion battery system can be recharged up to 1000 times and has up to four times the power of conventional batteries. iZAP and Recharge-It-All battery systems are now available throughout the company’s website. Apple iPod and Apple iPhone are registered trademarks of Apple Computer, Inc.
