IFA 2010 news : Nikon unveils a new compact camera to join its Coolpix line-up, the Nikon Coolpix S5100, a versatile shooter with specialist technologies to ensure stunning shots even in low-light conditions.The Nikon Coolpix S5100 features four technologies for beautiful night shots, including lens-shift type VR (Vibration Reduction), high sensitivity with low noise up to ISO 3200, enhanced Motion Detection, and a new flash control system. The Nikon S5100 features Nikkor precision lens, Nikon Expeed 2 digital image processing, and includes legendary Nikon features designed to capture the highest quality images.

The Nikon Coolpix S5100 is a slim and stylish camera with 12.2 megapixels, which gives you high performance in any situation with its easy-to-use functions. Even at night, when images can be more difficult to capture, you can rely on getting clear, crisp pictures every time with lens-shift type VR (Vibration Reduction), enhanced Motion Detection, and a ground-breaking flash control system. The Nikon S5100 will detect if you are holding the camera, rather than using a tripod, and will automatically select the most appropriate settings to reduce image blur and make sure you capture beautiful pictures every time.

With improved response performance from the Expeed 2 processing system you will never miss that perfect shot, even if your subject is moving. And if you want to capture more of the moment, then a dedicated video button allows you to quickly and easily record video in 720p HD quality. Although the Nikon Coolpix S5100 incorporates a 5x zoom NIKKOR lens starting at wide-angle 28mm, the sporty, metal, rounded body design is only 21.6 mm (0.9-inch) thick so it will easily fit in a bag or pocket.

The original Expeed image processing system incorporated all of the accumulated expertise and technologies developed throughout Nikon’s long history. Now, the latest evolution of Nikon’s renowned system, Expeed 2, expands the possibilities of photography even further, with enhanced movie recording, high-sensitivity performance and maximum image quality. Nikon Expeed 2 maximizes sensor performance for clear, life-like images that exhibit vivid colors, reduced noise and smooth tonal gradations for outstanding photos and movies. The Nikon Coolpix S5100 digital camera is available from September 16th 2010 for an estimated retail price of €169,-.
